Nice to meet you

Hi, I’m Ivy. So glad you are here!

I’m an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AASW) based in Melbourne Victoria, and I work with children, teens, adults, and families. Basically, if life has thrown you a plot twist - expected or not - I’m here to help you make sense of it.

My style is warm, calm, and very human. I want to understand your story, your strengths, and what really matters to you. Think of therapy with me as a conversation where you don’t have to pretend everything is fine, and I don’t expect you to have your life sorted out (honestly, who does?).

Since completion of Master of Social Work through the University of Melbourne in 2019, I’ve worked across hospitals and community services in mental health, alcohol and drug treatment, and dual diagnosis. I support people dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, cultural adjustment, relationship ups and downs, identity questions, and the general chaos of being alive.

Sessions are client-led: you set the pace, and I follow. If therapy were hiking, you choose the trail and I’m the person walking beside you - not rushing you, not judging your pace, just pointing out the scenery and helping you watch out for uneven ground.

I draw from evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Schema Therapy, and CBT-based play therapy. But here’s the truth: the “method” matters less than whether it feels right for you. We’ll choose what works and toss what doesn’t.

As an Asian woman, I get the whole mix of cultural expectations, family pressure, and identity juggling. I can provide session in both Mandarin and English. And if switching between Mandarin and English feels more natural for you, we can do that - no need to pick just one.

Medicare rebates are available for eligible clients with a Mental Health Treatment Plan, and some private health funds offer rebates too (I know, everyone’s policy is different - like personality, but with more paperwork).

Outside of work, I’m a mum to one small human and two very opinionated cats. I’m also a beginner in powerlifting (yes, I still celebrate every small PB), and when inspiration strikes, I share bits of life and reflections on Xiaohongshu as a casual blogger.
